Level 1 Health Studies
Course Description
This course follows the NCEA level 1 guidelines. This course would suit students who like to make change happen and can identify the inequalities in New Zealand society. They will be confident to state opinions and recommend change. There is a high level of written work and there is an external exam in Semester 2.
Specific skills learned
Identify why change happens and how this can impact own your own wellbeing, developing strategies to manage these changes
You will recommend to others how to use interpersonal skills to promote and maintain healthy relationships
You will learn how to take action to promote positive sexuality messages to overcome discrimination and stereotypes
What strategies can you use to stay healthy in a variety of situations in which drugs are present

Merit and Excellence grades in some Year 10 Health assessments
