Level 1 Physical Education (Full Year Course)

Course Description

This course follows the Level 1 NCEA guidelines and prepares the students for further study at Level 2 and Level 3. This course has a high academic focus and would suit students who want to study PE and Sport, rather than just play sport. This pathway leads to University Entrance.

Course Overview

Semester 1
> Demonstrate a range of movement skills and strategies in an applied setting. for example offensive, defensive, tactical strategies in team or individual activities or activities involving cultural festival, event, or outdoor experience.
> Participate in a range of physical activities with a focus on team challenges. Involves working in a group to achieve a common goal in team activities or sport, cultural activities, or outdoor education activities.

Semester 2
> Demonstrate understanding of influences on movement in Aotearoa or Pacific involves exploring how and why influences affect a movement context eg: biophysical aspects, anatomy, biomechanics, sports peychology including sociocultural aspects, gender, media, and cultural aspects.

Achieved grades in Year 10 PE, quality of portfolios and assessments

Assessment Information

Assessment for these standards will be a structured portfolio with options to present your work from the following formats.
> Written document in digital or paper based format including images and 750 - 800 words.
> Video or audio recording of 3-4 min.
> Combination of text, images, and audio / video recordings (equivalent combination of the above)
> Written report

Credit Information

You will be assessed in this course through all or a selection of the standards listed below.

This course is eligible for subject endorsement.
