Level 2 Mathematics and Statistics
Course Description
This course will enable study of mathematics into level 3 - an opportunity to specialize in either Calculus or Statistics or General Mathematics Course. This course comprises of Internal standards and a choice of sitting for External that contributes to the total credits. All students will be required to complete the course with Internal Standards. This course is a University recognized subject, contributes to Numeracy, and is eligible for Course endorsement should you choose to do an External.
Course Overview
Semester 1
In Semester 1 the following standards will be taught and assessed:
AS91256 2.1 Apply co-ordinate geometry methods in solving problems 2 credits Internal
AS91258 2.3 Apply sequences and series in solving problems 2 credits Internal
AS91264 2.9 Use statistical methods to make an inference 4 credits Internal
Semester 2
In Semester 2 the following standards will be taught in Semester 2:
AS91260 2.5 Apply network methods in solving problems 2 credits Internal
AS91259 2.4 Apply trigonometric relationships in solving problems 3 credits Internal
AS91261 2.6 Apply algebraic methods in solving problems 4 credits External
AS91263 2.8 Design a Questionnaire 3 Credits Internal
Recommended Prior Learning
Students must meet the following requirements to be able to take 201MAT course. •Must have taken 100MAT or 101MAT in Year 11 •Have attained Level 1 NCEA qualification and have Numeracy •Must have achieved at least 12 Maths credits at Level 1
