Level 3 English for Trades
Course Description
This course has been designed to develop important communication skills that are vital for students preparing to transition into the work place. Developing skills where students have the opportunity to grow confidence in using their interpersonal communication skills places them at a distinct advantage when preparing for the workplace. This is an internally assessed course and is targeted to students enrolled in 301CON and 301AUT. Credits gained in this course will contribute towards NCEA L3.
Course Overview
Semester 1
This course is completely internally assessed. Much of the work done in this course is directly connected with the work students are doing in the Trades courses. In the first part of the year students will have the opportunity to develop their writing and speaking skills particularly aimed at the workplace .
Semester 2
In the second part of the year the work students will do in this course continues to be around developing those communication skills which are so vital for the workplace particularly in communicating and working with others. Students will also have the opportunity to reflect on their experiences in the workplace. It is hoped by the end of the year that students will have improved their confidence in communicating with others particularly in work place situations.
Recommended Prior Learning
201WOE. Students must be taking either 301AUT or 301CON to do this course .
