Year 11 Computing Skills builds on foundational digital literacy, equipping students with advanced computer skills for the modern world. This course develops problem-solving, critical thinking, and creativity through practical application. Students will explore a range of software applications, programming concepts, and digital technologies. The course emphasizes digital citizenship, ethical use of technology, and effective communication through digital media.
By the end of the course, students will be confident in using technology to create, collaborate, and solve problems.
Students will gain the following skills:
- Operating System Navigation: Understanding file management, navigating folders, and using operating system features.
- Keyboarding Skills: Efficient typing for communication and data entry.
- Email Communication: Composing, sending, and receiving emails effectively.
- Digital Collaboration Tools: Utilizing online platforms for communication and teamwork (e.g., video conferencing, cloud storage).
- Word Processing: Creating, editing, and formatting documents for various purposes.
- Presentations: Developing and delivering presentations using software like PowerPoint.
- Software Applications: Learning specific applications for tasks spreadsheets, or database management.
This programme is not part of the Pathway to Technology Programme (P-Tech).
Course Overview
Semester 1
Students will undertake consistent assessments throughout both semesters. Coursework will focus on developing proficiency in presentation skills, spreadsheet analysis, and the creation of professional documents using word processing software.
