Course Description
Teacher in Charge: Ms Masima.
This course covers 4 internal standards and 2 external standard.
Students will be expected to carry out a practical investigations. The data collated from the practical activity will be tabulated, processed, analysed and then used to present a report.
Other activities include researching biological topics and going on an educational day-trip.
Seniors are expected to take responsibility for their learning, this means reading relevant texts, and completing all class work and homework.
Course Overview
Semester 1
Two internal standards:
1. AS91604: Demonstrate understanding of how an animal maintains a stable internal environment
2. AS91601: Carry out a practical investigation in a biological context, with guidance
External standard:
1. AS91606: Human evolution
Semester 2
Two internal standards:
1. AS91607: Demonstrate understanding of human manipulations of genetic transfer and its biological implications
2. AS91602: Integrate biological knowledge to develop an informed response to a socio-scientific issue
External standard:
1. AS91605: Evolutionary processes that lead to speciation
Recommended Prior Learning
Completion of Level 2 Biology.
