This course is comprised predominantly of internal assessments and externals. It comprises of a range of achievement standards that will give you L1 Literacy. This is a full year course. Students will be assessed on their understanding of written and visual and/or oral language. Students will develop their ability to read, write and communicate. Literacy in English gives students access to the understanding, knowledge and skills they need to participate fully in the social, cultural, political, and economic life of New Zealand and the wider world.
Semester 1
The first part of the year there is a focus on completing the internal assessment requirements for the course . Students begin the year by reading texts and one of these texts will also be used in the exam later in the year. Students also complete a piece of formal writing and them move onto producing a spoken text.
Semester 2
The second part of the year is about finishing off any internal assessment tasks and then having time to focus on the external exams at the end of the year. In the second half of the year students will also complete a film study and a visual text.
100English sets students on the pathway to be able to do UE English at Level 3.
