Course Description Recommended Prior Learning

To take level 2 Social Studies students should have passed at least one external and one internal in one of the following level 1 subjects: Geography or English.


The aim of the social studies course for 2021 is to help students understand the importance of social issues. They will investigate underlying social issues that affect our society locally and globally. These issues will practice the human rights and responsibilities of creating change and raising awareness. Social studies will help students to understand developments that are taking place in society and the world as well as their roles in shaping the future of the nation.

Social Studies 2.2 - AS91280 - Conduct a reflective social inquiry

Social Studies 2.4 AS91282 - Describe personal involvement in a social action related to rights and responsibilities

Semester 2
Media 2.6 AS91253 - Complete a developed media product from a design and plan using a range of conventions *Note this is a media standard

Social Studies 2.5 AS91283 - Describe a social action that enables communities and/or nations to meet responsibilities and exercise rights
