The Year 9 Cook Island Maori is a half year course that have two intakes of students. One in the first Semester and the second cohorts in the second Semester. This course focuses on developing communication skills in CIM. Students will  learn to understand and use familiar expressions and everyday vocabulary and interact in simple ways in supported situations. In addition, students will learn to construct simple texts, and to describe aspects of their own background and immediate environment. The skills of listening, speaking, reading, writing will be an integral part of their learning and students will be assessed on these skills. It is hoped that students of CIM, at the completion of this course will learn to appreciate the CIM culture, values and its relevance to their everyday life.
