Teacher in Charge: Mrs Langi
Year 9 Spanish is a half year course. There are two intakes; one in Semester 1 and the second cohorts will start in Semester 2. In Year 9 Spanish, we focus on the basics of language with topics including (but not limited to) greetings, family members, languages and countries, numbers, dates and school vocabulary. Students learn to hold simple conversations, ask and answer questions about aspects of their lives such as describing themselves, their family and pets, their nationality, the language(s) they speak, giving their address, as well as other information. There is a strong emphasis on pronunciation at this year level. Also integrated in this course are particular features of Hispanic culture to broaden students’ horizons and encourage them to step beyond familiar cultural boundaries and develop new ways of seeing the world. Regular assessments in the four skills of listening, reading, writing and speaking will allow students to check progress.
