1)Design and carry out a practical investigation to make valid discussions
2)Visit the zoo and closely observe their chosen animals and know more about them from their Education specialists
3)Visit the Hunua ranges to have a greater understanding of the Kokako conservation program

Two internal standards:
1. Practical investigation
2. Understanding of adaptations of plants or animals to their way of life

Semester 2
Two internal standards:
1. Using a microscope to investigate a biological material
2. Investigate a pattern in an ecological environment.
