This course is designed for students intending to pursue a career in the construction industry at the end of the year. Students complete a range of practical and theory activities which will prepare them for an apprenticeship, or further training or work.
Style of learning – the course is taught through practical and learning is reinforced with booklets.
Students must be prepared to do one day work experience each week. This is organised by the school.
Semester 1
* Follow safe work place practices, and contribute to a health and safety culture in a BCATS environment. (2 credits)
* Measure and calculate for in a stage 3 BCATS project. (3 credits)
* Demonstrate knowledge of, select and use materials for a stage 3 BCATS project (4 credits)
* Select use and maintain tools, equipment and machining for a stage 3 BCATS project (4 credits)
* Communicate and work collaboratively in a stage 3 BCATS project (5 credits)
Semester 2
* Develop and use BCATS project documentation for stage 3 BCATS project. (8 credits)
* Undertake a stage 3 BCATS project. (12 credits)
